KARIMOKU 60

In 1962, Karimoku developed the first chair carrying its own brand. At the time, among the furniture that had been manufactured only with wooden parts, the simplest furniture was chosen, and improvements were made to cater to Japanese housing. Its relatively reasonable price, ease of handling and simple design was supported by corporate demand such as the lobby of the Ryokan (traditional Japanese inn) and small, medium-sized enterprises, even during the times when trends are changing rapidly, the K Chair has never stopped production. Originally, the chair was designed for export, so it is light and compact and has a structure that can be assembled easily. It is also designed to last for years, therefore necessary parts can be ordered and exchanged.

1962年、初めての自社製品として開発された、カリモクの椅子の第一号です。当時、木製パーツだけで製造していた輸出向け家具の中から、最もシンプルなものを選び、日本の住宅向けに改良がほどこされました。比較的値ごろな価格と扱いやすさ、シンプルなデザインから、旅館のロビーや中小企業の応接間など法人需要に支えられて、時代や流行が激しく移り変わる中でも、Kチェアは一度も廃番になることなく、今日まで生産が続けられてきました。もともとは輸出用家具をお手本にデザインしたため、組み立て式で軽く、コンパクトに輸送ができる構造になっています。そのためパーツごとの交換が可能。長年使い込んでシートだけがへたってしまったり、片方の木肘部分だけタバコで焦がしてしまったり、そんな時も必要なパーツだけ取り寄せて交換することができるので、より長く使い続けることができるのです。
